by Brumby Ben
(Sydney, NSW Australia)

Bossiaea Heterphylla

Bossiaea Heterphylla

This morning, we went for a walk in the bush near our house and chose a plant to identify.

This is what we found and we checked it against an identification book called "Concise Australia Flora" by Leonard Cronin.

The plant is called a Bossiaea Heterphylla or more commonly known as the Variable Bossiaea.

We checked that it was:

-1.5 metre's high
-Flattened stems
-Leaves are alternate, stalkless and lanceolate
-leaves6-25mm long
-Leaves2-4mm wide
-Flowers are yellow
-a red keel in the flower
-pea shaped
-fruit are oblong pods 2-3cm
