Language Arts centred around whole books

Hi, I would like to know people's thoughts on the Language Arts curriculum available. I have 8 children, 5 of which I am schooling(eldest is 11). I would like a curriculum that uses whole books and takes care of comprehension, grammar, composition, etc.

I understand LLATL is like this, I'm just wondering if LLATL has a Christian perspective.

Eventually, I would like to learn from LLATL and use its principles for my own choice of books, and use Marianne's ideas of using literature for all the Language Arts; but at the moment, I need it to largely take care of itself. Is LLATL the only way to go here? I would love it if anyone has more on this...
