quick sand demo

by steve archer
(raleigh nc)

I took a plastic cake pan dish and drilled a hole in bottom then I took a litre coke bottle drilled hole in cap then took clear 1/2 inch plastic tubing and inserted in cap and bottom of cake pan.

I filled the pan with white silica sand then filled bottle with water then put a steel ball bearing on top of sand.

I turned the water bottle upside down and the water rushed in the bottom and the ball bearing sinks!
