Read Alouds - Never Talk To Strangers

by Rusty
(Oroville, CA)

This is an out-of-print book that I grew up with as a child. Turns out that this book had a great lesson to learn.

"While mailing a letter to your Aunt Lucille,
You spot a car with a whale at the wheel,
Stay away from him and his automobile.
Never talk to strangers."

It has a wonderful cadance and the story goes through the different types of strangers, including ones you can talk to.

"If your father introduces you to a rolly-poly Kangaroo,
Say polietly, How do you do?
That's not talking to strangers
Because your father knows her."

It has beautiful, bright pictures. Depending on beliefs, it does mention the Easter Bunny (because everybody knows him), so some might not like it. Overall, it is a wonderful book to read with an important lesson attached. Here's the last verse in the book:

"Now I will tell you why you've never heard,
This jolly giraffe say a single word,
it's because he learned from a little bird,
never talk to strangers."
