Silkworms

Our Silkworms

Our Silkworms

I like silkworms because they are soft and cuddly. They have sixteen legs. They only eat mulberry leaves. They eat all day and eat lots at night too. The mulberry leaves need to be fresh and not dried out.

If they are hungry they lie so still and if they want to be left alone to eat a leaf, without you patting them, they lie still.

Silkworms can stick really well.

We have about 40 silkworms in a box. I am looking after 2 in my own box.

Too late to get them now
by: Marianne

Hi Jo,
It's too late to get silkworms now as they are all growing so big and mostly making their cocoons or becoming moths.
They come out of their eggs in early spring.
