Tayler's First Book

by Kerry
(Sydney)

Swamp Hen Farm - by Tayler.

A story about a girl called Sharon who finds a baby Swamp Hen. (That's a type of bird). The baby swamp hen is hurt and seems to have no parents. Sharon immediately loves him! but will her parents allow her to keep him?

Tayler was nine when the idea burst into her mind to write a story about a swamp hen. We were on one of our many walks through Centennial Park in Sydney when we spotted a baby swamp hen. Within moments a story line had appeared in her head and within days a new priority had come into our life - to write the book. Tayler was consumed by writing and I (her mum) was consumed with typing into the computer. After 5 weeks we had finished the first draft and then started the editing and proofreading. By Christmas we had the first copy printed all 75 pages. Tayler is now onto her second book about horses. Her book Swamp hen Farm is available in an E-book format since it is the most cheapest option of reading it.

That really great!

That really good. I can't wait to read it one day. Looks good. I like the way you thought of it. Seeing a little baby bird and writing a 75 page book.

Great Book Cover
by: Talitha

I loved your front cover! Did you make that with pencil and coloured markers?

It sounds like a good story to read. It's cool how you made the book - you looked at real life - at the little bird and that gave you the idea to write a whole book about it.

How many chapters are there?

I have started writing a book and I have written about how to make a book on Talitha's Tales.

So far, I have written about half the book.

Well done, Tayler.
Maybe one day I can read your book.

That is totally amazing
by: Liam Porter

Hi Tayler,
I think it is really good and clever how you made the book. The thing I like about it is how it is a true story and the neatness of the cover of the book.
I am totally amazed that you did 75 pages in 5 weeks. That is the most pages I have ever seen a kid do.

From Liam.
