Dolch Sight Words

teaching descriptive writing

Edward Dolch PhD published the Dolch Sight Words List in 1948. This list is composed of 220 high frequency sight words.  Since they occur so often in our reading, they are useful words to know. Many of these words are difficult to read phonetically and so using these sight words on flashcards, in bingo games, placing them all over your house, using them as stepping stones can help teach reading in fun ways.

They have been divided into 5 lists of increasing difficulty.

Print off your own Dolch Sight Words onto cardstock and use them for games, flashcards, bingo and so on.
