Your Special Delivery of Encouraging Quotes: Journey Cards

Every single homeschooling parent will need to hear encouraging quotes from time to time.

We all know that there will be times you feel so good about your homeschooling journey as well as times when you are sent spiraling downwards by a list of your own fears and questions. It may have been a question that has unsettled you, a bad attitude, tiredness, self doubt, a messy house or just messy life!

Whatever it is - you need to sit back, take time, find supportive friends around you and be encouraged.

Reading and soaking up helpful encouraging quotes will be one way in which you can rest and be inspired once again.

Journey Cards - Your special delivery of Encouragment - from www.design-your-homeschool.com

How can I remember the Encouraging Quotes?

So, you've just read a great quote and feel that you can keep going!

Great! That's what you need... but what happens when your toddler spills a drink again, your pre-teen has a tantrum about his work, the 15 year old doesn't want to get out of bed, the washing machine gives up and you haven't done your groceries yet!

You need a reminder!

That's where Journey Cards comes in!

Journey Cards - The Encouraging Reminder

Since I've been exactly in that place - needing encouragement and not having the quote on hand, I've decided to create Journey Cards - 'coz life's a journey!

Consider if your SPECIAL DELIVERY OF ENCOURAGEMENT!

Each month  or so, a new set of 5 encouraging quotes will be available for purchase. They have been created in sets with similar themes.

I love to have my Journey Cards on my desk and I rotate the card or find the quote as I need to. I also really like having them around as a discussion starter with a friend - or even a gentle thought which might cause someone else to consider the 'possibility' of homeschooling.

The best way I have found to display them is on a small easel. You could also make a wall display with small wooden pegs and create a mobile. Alternately, you can pass them and write a personal note to a friend. The back of the card is left blank especially for this reason.

The Encouragement of Famous People

There's been oodles of people before us who have homeschooled, so we are not alone!

These authors: Beatrix Potter, C.S. Lewis, Charles Dickens, George Bernard Shaw, Hans Christian Anderson, Louisa May Alcott; These inventors: Alexander Graham Bell, Benjamin Franklin, Cyrus McCormick, Eli Whitney, Thomas Edison, Orville Wright, Wilbur Wright

These Presidents: Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Jackson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, George Washington, Grover Cleveland, James Garfield, James Madison, John Adams, John Quincy Adams, John Tyler, Theodore Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson, William Henry Harrison, Woodrow Wilson

And the list goes on - see a great list of famous people who were homeschooled.

We are not weird or crazy! It's actually a really old way of educating, but unfortunately society has forgotten that and so the default institution everyone turns to is school.

And so, using wonderful quotes from inspiring people,

Ideas to display the Journey Cards

I have my Journey Cards displayed on my desk in our dining area on a small wooden easel and that works perfectly fine, but here are some other ideas from Amazon which could be useful to display your journey cards. Make a mobile, hang them on a wall, place in a flip photo album or write a note on the back and send them to a friend. Enjoy!
