Great Lakes, the Grand Canyon, and Music

by Kate

There's the well-known trick to remember the names of the North American Great Lakes- HOMES:
H- Huron
O- Ontario
M- Michigan
E- Erie
S- Superior

Also, I have a less-useful one, but when I was a kid, my dad came up with a mnemonic to help me remember who discovered the Grand Canyon (Coronado). He told me to picture a tornado going through the Grand Canyon. Tornado and Coronado sound very similar. I still remember that to this day! =)

I also find that setting things to song works very well. In my experience, it doesn't have to be fancy; just setting information to some kind of melody helps.
