Homeschooling Questions - Curriculum, Socialization etc

I was told about ABeka Christian Academy, looked at their website, spoke with a gentlemen who is the one that told me about the school said it was affordable and the price is good. The subjects are good too.

My husband I have been tossing around homeschool for the last 5 years. We have a 10 and 14 year old sons. One is very much into tennis and we worry about what happens when they are homeschooled.

We worry about the social part. We moved to a new town a year ago and they both have made new friends and they seem them at school and sometimes come over. Our oldest plays tennis with them at school. How do we go from a public environment to a none public environment.

Where do we begin?

Socialization
by: Kris P

Our family has always homeschooled. We move almost yearly so homeschooling has been one our best choices.

To answer your question about socialization though. Of course I can only speak for my family. Both of my children have developed a wonderful skill, making friends. Just like everyone else in the neighborhood, they play after school or have days where we meet with other HS friends and have fun.

I don't see any reason why your children wouldn't still spend time with the friends that they have already.

About tennis. I am assuming he is on a tennis team. If that's the case, some states allow home school children to take class's at the school in there area. So that may be an option.

And or you can all spend some time together and play. I do things with my sons that I might not do other wise like Tae Kwon Do. But I'll tell you, the time spent with your children is worth it's weight in gold. They will be gone in a blink of an eye but if you homeschool you will all have many incredible memories.
