LEM Phonics

This is an Australian resource, created to teach writing, reading and pronunciation of words simultaneously and phonetically. It is very thorough, provides rules for placement of various spellings of sounds, and is easy to use. I particularly like it because my son (primary school grade 1 level) has a need to understand systems and principles, and the other methods of learning English we had come across rely on memory and sight words, which he found frustrating.

Understanding why a particular spelling is used for a particular sound in a particular word is giving him more confidence in attempting to write for himself. I really enjoy using LEM phonics with my son.

Online Training for LEM Phonics

It is gratifying to see LEM Phonics being recommended on this website. I just wanted to let people know that it is possible for Home Educators to access training in the LEM phonics program.

As a Registered LEM Phonics Instructor, I have developed an online training program, which I sell through my website www.abcd-literacy.com

There are 16 modules, which can be purchased as a whole or you can select indvidual modules to assist in developing your understanding and skills. Two of the modules are free, giving you a chance to sample the program before purchase.

There are other free resources on the site as well - I hope you check it out.
