Wirraglen Support Group operates rented facilities for home schoolers.
Three acres of park land with buildings and amenities are available three days a week. Resources (such as games, books, play materials etc) are on hand and two Queensland registered teachers (ex home schoolers) manager the centre on a voluntary basis. Grants are continually sought in order to provide workshop days where children can be engaged in a variety of outdoor and indoor activities (usually once a month). On a weekly basis, families use the centre for recreation and idea exchange.
The centre has been operating for six years and funds to pay rent and insurance are raised through donations and various activities. The centre also offers support on an outreach basis, so families do not need to attend to get help.
Currently the centre attracts between 20 and 60 families a year - varying from weekly to monthly attendance.
